We had blogged about the IPL – Youtube partnership and how it had the potential to change how online video and advertising on online video would be percieved in India. We also blogged about the big advertisers and the big amounts that Youtube roped in for this years online streaming of the IPL.
It seems to be working very well for the 5 year old video sharing site which is now looking at striking it big in India with the IPL. As per an interview in the ET Youtube has struck gold with the IPL.
The current statistics in not even 12 days of the IPL speak for themselves:

The above statistics show that channel views are more than upload views which is the effect that the live streaming is having. Almost double the number of views for live streaming than archived uploaded clips. This is a sure shot thumbs up to live streaming of events online that have mass audience interest!
